US coal exports up

Iran Steel News Agency – Analysts expect US coal exports to reach a three-year high of 20 years, at 89 million tonnes, given the disruption that Ukraine’s war has caused to global coal supply. This figure is estimated to be 4.5 percent higher than 2021 exports, and is the highest figure for US coal exports after 2019, which reached 92.9 million tons.

According to Iran Steel, the rising trend in world prices is expected to help more US coal exports as the Ukraine war has increased the possibility of further disruption of Russian supply. On the other hand, US coal exports to Asia and China, which were the impetus for increasing exports in 2021, have decreased in the first three months of this year.
